Most kitchen countertops will have a seam simply due to the material and handling constraints. Our team of technicians strives to line up the veining and movement within the material that you’ve chosen to create a smooth transition. We provide a countertop layout before we make your countertop so that you can see where the seams will be located and how many will be required. Our company uses cutting-edge tools and techniques to create a countertop that the seams blend into as much as possible!

To prepare for the installation process you should clear out all of your kitchen cabinets. Once clear, remove the drawers and set them in a safe place away from the work area. As countertops can be extremely heavy, which can cause serious injuries if they’re dropped, please ensure that any small children or pets will be kept away from the work area as well. During the installation, we will need to make many trips from the kitchen to our outside work area. Please keep a clear path for our installation specialists to use.

You can expect a small amount of dust around the work area, which is completely normal with any type of installation. Not to worry, though, as our team of professionals will clean up after themselves and leave your home in the same condition that it was in when they arrived. The glue that is used to fasten your new countertops to the cabinets and join the seams does have a chemical odor as well. However, this smell will dissipate within a few hours of the installation.

Yes. If any minor damage does occur, natural stone countertops can usually be repaired. As long as the damage isn’t severe, your countertops can be fixed using a mixture of epoxy and ground stone chips. If your countertops have been severely damaged or cracked, you will likely need to have it replaced.

Yes. You can use natural stone to create outdoor countertops around your home. Outdoor countertops can be a beautiful complement to a pool area, deck, or patio. However, outdoor countertops will require more maintenance to make them last as long as possible. Keep in mind that you should choose a hard stone for this application as softer stones will be more susceptible to the weather and staining. When you are choosing a stone surface, we can work with you to find the best stone for your outdoor application and climate!

The types of finishes available for your countertops all depend on which type of stone you choose. Typically, granite is available in polished, honed, leathered, or antiqued. Polished surfaces provide a high-gloss finish. Honed surfaces produce a satin sheen. Leathered finishes are designed to look and feel like leather. Antiqued surfaces provide a rough finish. Other natural stone countertops and engineered quartz frequently come polished or honed.

Typical overhangs for standard 3 cm countertops can be up to 10 inches, unsupported. With 2 cm countertops, the overhang can be up to 6 inches, unsupported. If you want an overhang for your island to be over 10 inches or 6 inches, we can install corbels to provide additional support. If the stone you’ve selected is extremely fragile, we may need to reduce the overall length of unsupported overhangs that we’ll allow.

Every type of countertop material requires different cleaning and maintenance. For solid surface countertops, you should avoid using abrasive cleaners. Warm, soapy water and common household cleaners will work fine. For natural stone surfaces, you should just stick with warm, soapy water. To avoid streaks appearing on your surfaces, wipe the counters dry after you finish cleaning them. Always avoid cleaners that contain citrus or other acidic additives. Any cleaners that contain dyes should never be left on your countertops for any length of time.
